Sous Chef – Exeter City Centre
Salary: Up to £39,000 (DOE)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shifts: Straight shifts | 5 days out of 7 (overtime paid time off in lieu)
We are working with a well-established hotel in Exeter city centre to recruit a talented and driven Sous Chef to join their kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced chef looking to step into a leadership role within a fresh food environment, offering great work-life balance and clear progression opportunities.
The Role
As Sous Chef, you will support the Exec Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, and service. You will play a key role in leading and motivating a team of up to 10 chefs, while maintaining a positive and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Exec Chef with all kitchen operations
- Lead, train, and develop a team of up to 10 staff
- Ensure high standards of food quality using fresh ingredients
- Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards
- Support stock control, ordering, and waste management
- Contribute to menu development and innovation
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- Strong background in fresh food kitchens
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Passion for quality food and continuous improvement
